JoJo Siwa will make history in September when the 18 year old YouTube and TikTok sensation will dance with another female professional dancer on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” for it’s first show of the year. This will be the first-ever appearance of a same-sex couple on the show, which will be entering its 30th season.
Earlier this year JoJo Siwa announced through her Instagram account that she was a pansexual. Pansexual, or ‘gender-blind’, refers to someone who is sexually, romantically or emotionally attracted to people regardless of their sex or gender identity.
Siwa explained in an interview, “I think it’s cool. I think it breaks a wall that’s never been done before, I think it’s really special that I get to share with the world that you can love who you love, but now you can dance with who you want to dance with.”

With over 12 million subscribers to her YouTube channel, JoJo Siwa was named one of the 100 most influential people in 2020 by Time Magazine.
Siwa will be partnered with Olympic gymnast Suni Lee on the Dancing with the Stars episode, “This has never happened on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ before. It’s always been a boy-girl couple” JoJo said.
Siwa added, “I said I actually would love and prefer to dance with a girl,” Siwa says. “Why not show the message even stronger that you can love whomever you want to love?”
