The defense team for accused sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell has asked the court for a new trial after a juror said he did not answer questions during the juror selection process about potential sexual abuse in his past, which may of had influence over his guilty decision.
Before the filing deadline Ghislaine Maxwell’s attorney’s had submitted a motion for a new trial, with the goal of dismissing her guilty conviction of sex trafficking charges in December.
Juror Scotty David remarked to the press that he could not remember whether or not he was asked about his personal experience with sexual abuse during jury selection on the 51 question jury questionnaire, where he was asked if he or any of his friends or family members had ever been the victim of sexual abuse or assault, or during the voir dire follow up questioning.
In a Jan. 19 letter to U.S. District Judge Alison J. Nathan, Ghislaine attorney Bobbi Sternheim said, “Today, counsel for Ghislaine Maxwell filed her Motion for a New Trial (the “Motion”) and accompanying exhibits under seal, for the reasons set forth in the Motion, we request that all submissions pertaining to Juror No. 50 remain under seal until the Court rules on the Motion.”
Ghislaine Maxwell was found guilty on5 of 6 counts against her, including sex trafficking of a minor and enticing a minor to travel to engage in illegal sex acts.

Maxwell maintains that she is innocent and claims was used as a scapegoat so prosecutors could hold someone else accountable for convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s sex crimes, after he was found dead by alleged suicide in his jail cell while awaiting 2019 trial in 2019. Maxwell’s family promised Ghislaine they would appeal her guilty conviction.
