Vince McMahon, who recently stepped down as Chairman and CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment during an ongoing misconduct investigation, allegedly paid $12 million in hush money to four women to hide allegations of sexual misconduct and infidelity. All of the women had been associated with the WWE during the past 16 years. McMahon continues to oversee the company’s creative content as the investigation proceeds while his daughter, Stephanie McMahon, is serving as interim CEO and chairwoman.
According to the Wall Street Journal the hush money was paid over a 16 year period.
At least one of the women who was allegedly paid off by McMahon is a former female wrestler, who said McMahon coerced her into giving him oral sex. The woman said McMahon then refused to renew her contract with WWE after she turned down any further sexual requests. McMahon and the woman reached a $7.5 million settlement in 2018.
Another woman claimed that McMahon had sent unsolicited nude photos of himself and sexually harassed her in the workplace. McMahon also allegedly settled with her for close to $1 million.
