Madison Beer apologized to her social media followers after the 21 year old American singer made comments about the Russian-American Vladimir Nabokov novel, “Lolita”, about an older man’s sexual obsession with his 12 year old stepdaughter, Dolores Haze.
The story follows the abduction and sexual abuse of a 12 year old girl, Dolores Haze, nicknamed Lolita, by her pedophilic stepfather Humbert Humbert.
In a now deleted message (according to Newsweek), Beer said, “I said I romanticize it because to me it’s about a taboo relationship, not about the age. That’s just how it reads to me, The movie has a much different take and I just liked the storyline. I’d never condone pedophilia y’all… it’s a fake story and a made-up book.”
Beer apologized after the hashtag, “#MadisonBeerIsOverParty,” started trending on Twitter. “i love u guys & i’m sorry. i misspoke and would never condone inappropriate [sic] relationships of any kind. i’m sincerely sorry for it seeming like i do. let me make it clear – i do not. have a good night,” Madison Beer said in a tweet.
