In much anticipated testimony, ‘Aquaman’ star Amber Heard will take the stand next week to testify against her former husband, Johnny Depp, in his $50 million defamation trial against her. Heard had unsuccessfully tried to have the lawsuit dismissed or moved to another jurisdiction. Amber Heard has also filed a separate $100 million defamation countersuit against actor Johnny Depp in 2020.
Johnny Depp is suing ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million after she had posted a 2018 op-ed in the Washington Post, in which she had detailed her experience with domestic abuse. Heard insinuated the abuse was at the hands of Johnny Depp, although the ‘Edward Scissor Hands’ actor was not mentioned by name in that article. Depp has continually denied Heard’s allegations of domestic abuse when they were together, and instead claimed he was the real victim of domestic abuse.

Depp has claimed that Heard’s abuse allegations cost him the very profitable role as Jack Sparrow in the next ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie and led to financial losses, which ws was challenged in court by Heard’s lawyers. Oddly, Depp himself said during testimony that he would not return to the Disney owned film series, even if they offered offered him “$300 million”.
A potential witness next week in the trial for Amber Heard when she takes the stand is SpaceX and Tesla founder and billionaire Elon Musk, who dated Heard briefly after Heard and Depp were divorced.
Amber Heard and Johnny Depp, who’s 2015 marriage ended after just one year, is accusing each other of physical violence during their relationship. Both actors have denied the claims. The defamation trial expected to last six weeks.
