In a video to her over 12 million subscribers, 25 year-old YouTube beauty guru Nikkie de Jager, also known as NikkieTutorials, came out as transgender woman, saying “When I was younger, I was born in the wrong body which means I am transgender.”
de Jager announced, “I’m Coming Out”.
Nikkie De Jager said that she first identified herself as a girl at the young age 6. Jager started hormone therapy at 14 before fully transitioning five years later.
De Jager told her makeup artist that she was being “blackmailed by people who wanted to leak my story to the press”, and the people who wanted to leak the transgender story thought she was lying, “too scared” to tell the public know who she truly was. “I’m not scared”, Nikkie said in her coming out video.
“Growing up, I think the hardest part was meeting new people and getting close to them and telling them a side to your life that you don’t even want to talk about because you hate that part of your life,” she said, adding that it included telling her fiance, Dylan Drossaers. “I know people are going to ask a lot of questions about Dylan.” De Jager added.
