Julianne Hough, the 36-year-old “Dancing With the Stars” host, is once again addressing her sexuality, five years after first publicly identifying as “not straight.” In a recent interview on the Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast, Hough reflected on her journey of self-discovery and love, emphasizing that her understanding of love and attraction has evolved beyond traditional labels.

Back in 2019, Hough made headlines when she revealed to her then-husband, Canadian ice hockey player Brooks Laich, that she wasn’t straight. “You know I’m not straight, right?” she recalled telling him, to which he responded with surprise. She explained, “I’m not. But I choose to be with you.”

Hough’s recent comments suggest that her journey is ongoing and more complex than a single label can define. “Coming out is one of the most vulnerable and empowering things that you can do,” she shared during the podcast. She emphasized that her understanding of love goes beyond being straight, gay, bi, or queer. “I think I’m just learning what love is, and I love people,” she said, highlighting her evolving perspective.

Reflecting on her time with Laich, Hough explained how the relationship allowed her to reconnect with her younger self, particularly the 10-year-old version of herself who longed for safety and stability. Laich, she noted, provided a grounding force that helped her heal old wounds and begin the process of becoming a more complete, self-aware woman.

As Hough continued her journey, she found herself increasingly attuned to the “essence” and “beauty” of others, beyond their personalities. This shift in perspective allowed her to see people in a new light, recognizing their souls and deeper qualities.

Hough’s ongoing exploration of her identity and relationships underscores the importance of personal growth and self-acceptance. Her story is a powerful reminder that understanding oneself is a continuous process, one that can lead to profound insights about love, attraction, and the human experience.
