CCardi B recently faced backlash after fans noticed the word “pedophile” in the background of her maternity photoshoot. The rapper, who had shared the images with an affectionate caption, found herself at the center of controversy due to a piece of graffiti visible in the background.
In the photos, Cardi B poses in front of a garage door covered in graffiti. While the prominent graffiti reads “Homesick” in vibrant yellow and blue paint, the word “pedophile” is scrawled over it in white paint. The unexpected appearance of such an inappropriate word led to a surge of concerned comments from followers who questioned the choice of location for a maternity shoot.
One commenter remarked, “Not a pregnancy photoshoot in front of the ‘P*DOPHILE’ graffiti. Girl… 🤦🏻♀️,” reflecting the confusion and disapproval among fans. The controversy was further amplified when the popular X account Pop Crave shared the photos, though they did not address the problematic background.
In response to the uproar, Cardi B took to social media to clarify the situation. She explained that the location was chosen under duress due to paparazzi pressure and time constraints. In a quote-tweet addressing a now-deleted post criticizing the background choice, Cardi stated, “First of all, we literally picked a random street because paparazzi was hounding us everywhere. This was supposed to be my original first picture, and we had to edit the photos in minutes because the shoot got leaked. Didn’t even have time to go over every detail because people were busy trying to expose my pregnancy as ‘aha’ moment…”
Cardi further emphasized that the inclusion of the graffiti was an oversight and not a deliberate choice. “Second, I’m ALWAYS with the shits but I’m not using MY MATERNITY shoot to be funny. Are you dumb??” she added, firmly denying any intent to provoke with the background.
Despite the oversight, Cardi B’s maternity photos remain posted on her Instagram, with the artist standing by her explanation and maintaining her stance against any insinuations of deliberate provocation.
